Commonly called Locust tree, this is a beautiful tree which if allowed will grow to massive proportions. In spring the new foliage is borne on the bare branches and is an attractive lime green before turning to a beautiful bright yellow. The leaves can be up to 1 foot long and are comprised of thumb sized, oval leaflets. In late spring, early summer fragrant flowers appear on mature trees. It is a very hardy tree which prefers full sun and well drained soil. Its best suited to large gardens but will respond well to pruning making it ok for smaller gardens too.
