A good evergreen, fast growing shrub or small tree which is very hardy to most conditions although a bad frost will burn younger growth. It has small oval leaves which are an olive green and in early summer small, attractive red flowers are produced. In the right conditions these flowers give way to edible fruits which are delicious, giving this plant its common name, the pineapple guava.
